Wall letters

With a baby nursery in mind and a budget to keep I decided I would paint my own letters for Sophie’s name over the crib.  I think it turned out nice and I was even asked to make them for others.  I think it is a great kids birthday gift as a name or for a friend get creative and do words as décor like love, family and so on.  I will post a few examples to help get your creative juices flowing.  Let’s start with my original.

Supplies needed:

Embellishments

Acrylic Paint colors

Wood letters in desired size and font (hobby lobby is where I got these) TIP: if it is finished would you will have more pain strokes

Paint brushes small and large

I do not think a full tutorial is needed here just start painting.  I started with the front then did another color on the edges.  Once completely dry I added rhinestone, ribbons, stickers.  I recommend before you begin draw out the letters on paper and figure out how you want them to look.

Here is another way to cover if paint is not what you want or if you have a specific pattern you are looking for.

Letters

Mod Podge

Scrap paper (enough to cover all letters)

A sponge brush

Exact Knife or a really sturdy hand

Embellishments (optional)

Paint and small paint brush

Start by placing letter face down on your paper also face down.  Trace the letter then cut out using knife.  Spread mod podge on the front of letter and glue down the paper making sure you get out the air bubbles.  TIP: if the paper is cut a little wider than the letters use a nail file to smooth the edges.  Paint the edges with desired paint for a finishing touch.
