Family Recipe Book

As you might know I am a bit of a sucker for sentimental gift giving.  However as I sat here thinking what was I to do with these old family pictures besides anther photo album for my mom I had a creative block.  Was it possible that I was running out of new projects with family photos?  Then it hit me when my husband/Chef was thinking about dinner, a family recipe book!  I got to work hunting down recipes of the families by calling and email the aunts, uncles and grandparents.  I also added a few from things I know my mom loves like cheddar biscuits and onion soup.   Next I hit the scrapbook store to get supplies.  I matched family photos with the recipes then got creative.  It was a huge success (you know because when my mother opened it the tears began to flow.  The idea was to make it so it can be added to for generations to come.   Here is a rundown but I urge you to make this your own and bring out your families personality in it.

Binder rings

2 pieces of chipboard at desired size (hole punch for binding)

Plastic page covers at desired size

Scrapbook paper

Stickers and other embellishments

Various color of ribbon (optional)

Mod Podge

Paper cutter

Printer

Spread mod podge on one side of chipboard, place desired scrapbook paper on it and make sure no bubbles are under the paper. Add any flat embellishments like letter stickers ect than with a sponge brush mod podge over the top of the paper to seal and set aside to dry.  Repeat this with the other piece of chipboard for the back cover.  I did both sides of each.  Next take your pictures and recipes and cut any way desired.  Stick on paper of your choice with any layout you like.  Add stickers and put in plastic cover.  Continue to fill up book.  Or the last page I created a template I am happy to share or create your own.  I then signed and used a date stamp to give it a fun look.

Let me know how yours turns out I would love to see how you did it.
