Baby Wipe Case

I am a thrifty shopper, so I have picked up the habit of saying “I can make that!”  So as I wondered through boutiques planning my babies arrival I came across the cutest diaper wipe cases with fabric and rhinestone, bows and more.  I picked it up to look at the price tag and $40!   I bet at this point you can guess hat I said next…”I can make that!”  So I made a trip to the craft store and went to work finding my personal pieces to match my diaper bag.  Ready for the shocker…….To make this piece of perfection here is all I had to spend:

Small Huggies wipe case for $2.99

Swatch of fabric of my choice for $1.99 (enough to make 2)

Foam $5 (enough to make more than I can count)

A glue gun

Ribbon (width same as edges of case) $1.99

Now stating the obvious…  For $12 I can make multiple Diaper wipe cases!  So far I have made 3 and I plan on making this a baby shower gift idea for the book!

Here is how it is done:

Using a pen and the wipe case trace the top of the wipe case on the foam and the fabric. Cut out two layers of the foam and fabric. Using the hot glue gun glue on one layer of foam to the top of wipe case now glue on the second over the first. TIP: open case before glueing so you do not glue it closed.   Now take a piece of fabric and if doing iron on embroidery do this now before you glue on the case.  Just be sure you have it centered.  Now starting on the inner middle edge glue it on work from one side to the other (do not glue corners yet).  TIP: If your fabric is thin do not put hot glue on the top of foam material or it will come through the fabric and look messy.  Once your fabric is glued on take a corner, glue the plastic and pull the fabric over it tight and hold till dry.  Repeat on all corners cut off any fabric over hanging.  Repeat on the bottom I do not use foam on the bottom of mine.  Now it is time to cover up the ugly edges with ribbon.  Starting in the inner middle again put some glue and work your way around the case.  Repeat on the bottom.  Now go to town decorating with ribbon, buttons, rhinestone or whatever else you would like.
